August is a great month!

In honor of my daughters birthday this month, I have decided next weeks feature will be all about cupcakes!! I am still rounding up all things cupcakes by Artisans on Etsy and Artfire.

My contribution to the cupcake theme is this "Birthday Cupcake" with my daughters birthstone! Just made it today for me to wear at her party!! It is a combination of brass and sterling silver with a 3mm peridot faceted gemstone.

I am in the middle of making a necklace and thought I would show the progress...

Tell me what you think... I think I may like it with a regular copper finish or all sterling silver!

Monday - Featured Items of the Week

This weeks featured items are from: TheBlueDaisy

I found Gail of, TheBlueDaisy in one of the forums on Art Fire. I liked her avatar and so it pulled me into her shop! Although my craft is in metal and wood, I can't resist anything that is cute and functional. Just look at these cute pin cushions! They almost look like cupcakes to me! My favorite is the red daisy cushion. It reminds me of cherry blossoms, go figure. I also like the idea of the scissor fob that doubles as a small pin cushion!. I can tell by Gail's photos that her craftsmanship is top notch. The close-up details of her stitching explains it all.

Pin cushions have sure come a long way from the old red tomato cushions!! I may have to update my pin's home!!

TheBlueDaisy can be found on Etsy as well as Art Fire

Monday Featured Items of the Week

Well, I have done it again! I found this weeks featured artist on flickr!! Pamela of prettydreamer creates wood toys for the kids in all of us!
My personal favorite of the four I have chosen is the wood tool set. I love woodworking and love the tools even more. So naturally when I saw this set I knew I wanted one for myself. Of course I will give it to my daughter!! The snake push toy and the stacking modern flowers are classics and every child should have one. The last item I chose was the, Jeweled Caverns and Dragon's Den. It is a great puzzle idea that can be played with 2- dimensionally or 3- dimensionally. I think this toy will bring out any child's imagination!

Although these are just four of my favorites, prettydreamer has much, much more in her shop. I believe that handmade wood toys are meant to be kept for a very long time and then passed on to grandchildren and so on. I think Pamela has a true gift in putting great thought and creativity into her wood toys.
